Fermented Foods – A Culture Of Healing

Patients often consult me with questions about their health. Many of the questions revolve around diet, water filtration, exercise, chiropractic, finding a good chiropractor, eating right, lifestyle, food supplements, obesity, vitamins, superfoods, even kombucha tea–basically anything imaginable to help them avoid sickness or recover from an illness.

People often argue with me that they can’t afford to eat healthy. I disagree with this. I believe it’s less expensive to make healthy choices-both short term and long term. Costly examples of the long-term repercussions of unhealthy eating are all around us.

At this point in pregnancy, your baby’s legs are starting to grow longer than the arms! Your little one’s toes are also getting longer, and the arch of your baby’s feet is starting to take shape.

Previous to my illness I had experimented with cutting out cows milk, and keeping yogurt, or just having goats milk products. This had helped but not significantly enough. When I was well again, I experimented with reintroducing dairy products but the results were always the same – when I ate milk products I got dermatitis. The reaction was actually pretty quick; within 2 hours of eating some sort of dairy I’d start feeling itchy and a little wet pimple would appear. As hard as it was giving up dairy (I used to love love love yogurt, ice cream and various French and Italian cheeses), a whole new, exciting clear-skinned world opened up to me.

I find this one fact alone truly amazing. In the times of no postal service, airplanes, or even cars, this culture survived and thrived. The reason…. quite simple. Alicante in Houston is a Miracle. Now that is a very strong claim, but those who have tried the drink and been faithful to it have cured themselves of an overwhelming number of medical conditions.

In this short article it’s impossible to cover every aspect regarding healthier food choices. However if common sense prevails a sensible guide to food kombucha alcohol choices can be made.

Green vegetables are probably the least favorite foods, but it will keep your skin soft and smooth. Some of the best greens that smooth out your face are greens are broccoli, spinach and turnip green.

Change the Ingredient: While nothing will replaced the taste of pork fat or butter, many times it won’t be greatly missed. When it calls for butter, I use margarine or the butter/olive oil mix. Vegetable oil? I use either olive or canola oils. For half and half, I get fat free half and half; it has the texture but fewer calories. I replace at least half of the salt with herbs that will go well with the dish. Also, I seldom use eggs; I use egg substitute or egg whites. Lots of protein, no fat and no cholesterol.
